The council reviewed a recommendation to accept the Surveillance Acquisition Report and approve the Surveillance Use Policy for Mutual Aid Air Support, aligned with the modernized framework established previously. The discussion focused on operational guidelines for helicopter assistance from external law enforcement agencies, including pre-deployment approval requirements, incident documentation, and strict limitations on data collection and sharing to protect civil liberties. The proposal ensures that any surveillance technology usage complies with the Surveillance Technology Ordinance and prohibits the use of air support data for federal civil immigration enforcement or out-of-state reproductive rights enforcement.
