Montezuma County Board Of County Commissioners Board Of County Commissioners Meeting
The board convened to hear an abatement petition regarding an appeal for agricultural land classification. The petitioner sought to restore the agricultural status for the 2024 tax year, citing natural damage that affected infrastructure and the subsequent rehabilitation efforts undertaken. The County Assessor opposed the request, presenting evidence of the lack of active agricultural use, including the absence of livestock and failure to maintain necessary infrastructure such as fencing and water ponds. The board evaluated the conflicting claims regarding the property's agricultural eligibility.
