The board reviewed updates regarding district nursing services, including Project ADAM certification, and received a fiscal year-end budget report. Revisions to the 2026-2027 Employee and Student Handbooks were discussed and reviewed. The board approved several action items, including teacher contracts for the upcoming school year, a wireless network upgrade, a utility submetering proposal, alternative open enrollment applications, and staff resignations. Additionally, the board held a closed session to address district insurance administration and employee salary and benefits, followed by the approval of the Samaritan fund.
Key discussions included finalizing the status of the 501c3 bank account setup and approving a $100 moral booster reimbursement per school, which was previously misidentified as PBIS. The board reviewed finances from a recent bake sale, which brought in $733.50 to be split among six music departments. New business focused heavily on planning Spring Book Fairs, confirming dates and exploring the feasibility of making them all Buy One Get One (BOGO) sales. Other topics included potential fundraiser ideas like 'Donuts with Grownups' and 'Popcorn/Pretzel/Pickle Day,' scheduling bake sales for upcoming concerts, and finalizing details for the Valentine's Day heart-shaped pizza fundraiser, which sold over 200 pizzas. The board tabled discussions on a flower fundraiser for next year, confirmed the date for Traxside Night, and planned for Staff Appreciation Week (TAW), budgeting $1000 per school. Further planning involved budgeting for Field Days and 5th-grade shirts, setting up three $500 scholarships for EG, TS, and WF, and scheduling future board meetings via Google Meet. They also discussed launching board nominations in March, setting up maturation bags for all EG students with a $600 budget, and utilizing PTO perks like front-row seating.
The meeting covered various topics including the treasurer's report, book fairs, moral boosters for schools, and a staff favorites survey. New business included discussions on a possible popcorn/pretzel/pickle day, a bus driver favorites survey, Thanksgiving plans for staff, spirit wear, a Butter Braid/Wooden Spoon Cookie dough fundraiser, a Casey's grant, and a bake sale. The Giving Tree (Holiday Wishes Program) and a candy cane sale in December were also discussed. Other topics included concert dates, Valentine's Day fundraiser ideas, a flower fundraiser, Pops Pizza Nights, and a skate night. The meeting schedule was reviewed, and there was a discussion about reaching out to DQ for PTO nights.
