United States Conference of Catholic Bishops National Synthesis 2021-2023
This document represents the National Synthesis of the People of God in the United States, culminating ten months of intentional listening during the Diocesan Phase of the 2021-2023 Synod. It aims to synthesize common joys, hopes, and wounds within the Church, serving as an invitation for continued listening, discussion, and discernment to understand and act upon the deeply held matters of Catholics in the U.S. Key themes include addressing enduring wounds from the sexual abuse crisis, COVID-19 effects, division, and marginalization of diverse groups; enhancing communion and participation through sacramental life and fostering a welcoming Church; promoting ongoing formation for mission; strengthening communication and transparency; and fostering co-responsibility between clergy and laity. The overall vision is to deepen communion, heal wounds, and encourage the Church's continued path as witnesses to Christ Jesus.
