Board of Adjustment Meeting
The Board of Adjustment conducted a quasi-judicial hearing regarding an appeal for a tree removal permit denial. The petitioner argued for the removal of a 30-inch live oak tree on private property, citing infrastructure damage and safety concerns, while referencing Florida Statute 163.045. Staff explained the city's tree removal criteria and emphasized that the tree was healthy and did not pose a safety issue warranting removal under local ordinances. The board discussed the definitions of detached versus attached residential properties as they relate to state statute applicability and considered whether a one-time exemption for the property was appropriate given the infrastructure history.
