The Levy County 2050 Comprehensive Plan's Economic Element aims to foster a strong, stable, resilient, and prosperous economy. This is to be achieved through coordinated public, private, and intergovernmental initiatives focusing on creating local employment opportunities, supporting existing businesses, and strengthening key sectors like agriculture, aquaculture, and forestry. The plan prioritizes expanding workforce and career pathways, promoting fiscally responsible infrastructure investment, preserving the county's rural character, and protecting its natural, recreational, historical, coastal, cultural, and working-land resources. Key strategic objectives include enhancing economic development strategies, bolstering educational and job training programs, optimizing planning and development processes, safeguarding rural and environmental quality, developing the agricultural and working lands economy, and vitalizing tourism, recreation, cultural resources, and small businesses.
